Teen sensation gets golden buzzer after 'mind-blowing' Britain's Got Talent audition

Sarah Ikumu amazes with And I Am Telling You

A 15-year-old girl’s vocals wowed so much on Britain’s Got Talent that Simon Cowell gave her the golden buzzer – despite initially barely giving her a second glance when she walked on stage.

Sarah Ikumu shocked with her powerful rendition of And I Am Telling You on Saturday night's show, and Cowell made a dramatic u-turn of his initially cynical opinion, calling her "incredible".

Sarah’s shy entry onto the stage didn't initially inspire the judges or the waiting crowd – that is until she opened her mouth to sing.

The teen sensation brought the house down so much so that Simon was compelled to send her straight to the semi-final.

He said: "I thought it started great and then it's like you became possessed halfway through, it was quite incredible.”

He wasn’t the only judge who was impressed – Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden both heaped praise on the youngster, with Amanda calling her audition "mind-blowing".

Alesha said:"I didn't press the golden buzzer because I wanted Simon to press it. I want you to go far and I think Simon can help you because you are a superstar.”

The auditions continued with a mix of magic, comedy, dancing human animals, all hoping to get through to the next round.

The Missing People Choir got four years with their heartfelt song I Miss You in memory of all those who are lost.

Meanwhile a mind-reading pair called DNA seemed to read Amanda and Simon’s minds before somehow changing their tshirts during their act.

But perhaps the most bizarre act was dog yoga (or 'doga') instructor Mahny and her pet pooch Robbie who invited the judges and hosts onstage to join in with their own dogs. David received an unwelcome surprise when one of the canine stars relieved himself on his shoes (yuck) but it didn't stop the duo from getting through on three yeses.

Britain's Got Talent continues on ITV at 8pm on Saturday.
